Ethanol is a renewable fuel that’s produced mainly through the fermentation of corn and wheat in Ontario. As outlined in the Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan, Ontario proposed beginning transition to 15 per cent renewable content in fuels as early as 2025, encouraging the uptake of lower carbon fuels and helping to reduce emissions from the transportation sector, without increasing the price at the pump.
